About this tour

Start the day with a scenic drive from Chachapoyas to the district of Santo Tomas, surrounded by mountains and breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, begin the hike to the Revash Mausoleum, a fascinating place where the Chachapoyas built small funerary mausoleums high on the cliffs. These enclosures, painted and sculpted in rock, reveal the importance of ancestor worship in this culture.

During the tour, we make a stop to visit the Casa Muesca, a traditional construction of the Chachapoyas that allows us to learn more about their architecture and lifestyle.

At noon, we enjoy a typical lunch en route, full of the local flavors that characterize the region. Then, we head to the Leymebamba Museum, home to more than 200 Chachapoyas mummies discovered in the Laguna de los Cóndores. Here you will also find ceramics, quipus and ceremonial objects that connect visitors with the spirituality of the ancient inhabitants of the region.

On the way back, we stop at the home of a local artisan who preserves the Chachapoya textile tradition. We learn about her ancestral loom technique and the meanings behind the intricate designs of her pieces before returning to Chachapoyas.

A tour that unites archeology, culture and textile tradition, offering a unique vision of the life and legacy of the Chachapoyas.
